Whether it’s a celebrity launching a new line or Whether it’s a celebrity launching a new line or a TikToker claiming that a DIY mask gave them their glow, it’s clear that not everyone with “good skin” knows much about skincare. There are a whole host of factors that come into play when it comes to skin including genetics, lifestyle factors and extra help from professionals like myself 💉. So when evaluating a source of information, I’d pay more attention to their credentials or the type of information they’re sharing than what they look like. Also, the concept of “good skin” is subjective. There are many people well-versed in skincare that don’t have “glass skin.” Even I have pores.

📣 PHOTOSENSITIVITY WARNING 📣 FYI - If a prod 📣 PHOTOSENSITIVITY WARNING 📣 FYI - If a product may make you more sensitive to the sun, it doesn’t matter when you use it, the risk is still there. Case in point: glycolic acid. The changes it causes in the stratum corneum can lead to increased sun sensitivity, meaning it doesn’t matter if it’s on your skin AT THAT MOMENT. You still need to be careful of the sun when using it as part of your PM routine. That’s why it’s always a good idea to use sunscreen and other photoprotective measures when using “actives”.

Minoxidil is one of my favorite topical medication Minoxidil is one of my favorite topical medications. Why? It’s easy to use, carries a minuscule side effect profile and it actually works! That said, it won’t work for all types of hair loss. That’s why it’s so important to know what you’re treating before you treat it. As always, a board-certified dermatologist will be your best resource for all things hair, skin and nails. If you think you’re experiencing hair loss, please talk to your doctor about it ASAP rather than waiting, trying home remedies or attempting to treat it yourself. Category is: practices that have changed my skin! Category is: practices that have changed my skin! Why? After doing evening skincare and brushing ones teeth, both or hands and lips have been exposed to water, surfactants etc. Going from that to sleeping in arid air for up to 8 hours means you may be waking up with dry hands and chapped lips. An easy way to prevent this is keeping hand cream and lip balm right next to your bed and applying them right before you go to sleep. Your skin will thank you!

Pink tax in action right here! While I understand Pink tax in action right here! While I understand that the volume used for a single dose may be different, why would we make women pay more for the same amount of product? I know these inequities exist when it comes to other products too, but it just hits a little harder when it’s a medication for hair loss. So many women suffer with it. I’ve been asked again and again: “what can I u I’ve been asked again and again: “what can I use to get rid of acne scars?” However, I’ve found that many on social don’t even know what true acne scarring is. When most people talk about “acne scarring,” they’re referring to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. While I generally try not to police language, the difference between acne scarring and PIH is important, since the treatments for these two entities are quite different.
